What we collect, and why.

Attune is a dating app for people with pets, made by Attune LLC ("Attune", "we"). This policy explains what we collect when you use the Attune app or attune-dating.com, what we do with it, and the choices you have. Plain language on purpose. If anything is unclear, email support@attune-dating.com.

What we collect

What you give us

Account. Email address, and a sign-in credential (password, or a token from Apple or Google if you sign in that way).
Your profile. First name, birthday (we store it to confirm you are 18 or older and to show your age), gender, who you want to meet, pronouns, a short bio, and photos of you.
Your pets. Species, name, breed, age, size, energy level, how they get on with dogs, cats and kids, a short bio, and photos. If you have no pet, what you are open to and what is not for you.
Location. Your city and approximate coordinates, so we can show people nearby and how far away a match is. You can set it manually instead of using device location.
Messages. Chats with your matches, so we can deliver them and, if someone reports a conversation, review it.
Safety information. Trusted contacts you add and date plans you choose to share with them.
Reports. If you report or block someone, the reason you give.
Waitlist. On this website, the email address you enter.

What we collect automatically

Device type, operating system version, app version, language and time zone.
Basic usage events (for example that a swipe or a match happened) and crash logs, so we can keep the app working.
Push notification tokens, if you allow notifications.

We do not collect precise location in the background, we do not read your contacts, and we do not use advertising trackers.

How we use it

To run the service: show you people and pets nearby, compute a pet-to-pet compatibility score and its reasons, deliver messages and notifications.
To keep people safe: enforce our terms, review reports, and hide or remove accounts that break the rules.
To improve Attune: understand which features are used and fix crashes.
To contact you about your account or, if you joined the waitlist, to tell you when we launch.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with advertisers.

Who can see what

Other members see your first name, age, photos, bio, pronouns, city, approximate distance, and your pets' profiles. Your email, birthday, exact location and trusted contacts are never shown.
Your trusted contacts receive the date plans you choose to share, by the method you pick.
Service providers that host and run Attune on our behalf: cloud hosting and database, photo storage, push notifications, email delivery, and crash reporting. They may only use your data to provide those services.
Law and safety. We share information when the law requires it, or when it is necessary to protect someone from harm.

How long we keep it

While your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, pets, photos, matches and messages are deleted. Reports and safety records may be kept for up to a year so that blocked or removed accounts stay removed. Waitlist emails are deleted after launch or on request.

Your choices

Edit anything on your profile or pets from the Me tab.
Delete your account from the Me tab (Delete account), or email us and we will do it within 7 days.
Location and notifications can be turned off in your device settings at any time.
Access or export. Email us and we will send you a copy of your data.

If you live somewhere with specific privacy rights (for example the EU, UK or California), you can exercise them through the same email. We will not treat you differently for doing so.

Age

Attune is for adults. You must be 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we delete accounts we find that belong to minors.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfect; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The date at the top always shows the current version.
